Borussia Dortmund secured their place back in the Bundesliga top three by defeating Wolfsburg at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday evening.

The victory was all the more impressive given that Dortmund were missing key players including Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho, who both suffered injuries during the week. However, they still managed to come out on top thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland and a goal from Christian Pulisic.

Haaland scored his first goal since November with a header before Pulisic struck twice to give Dortmund a comfortable lead. The former Chelsea winger then added a third for Dortmund just minutes later to put them in control.

Wolfsburg fought back valiantly but could only manage one goal as they fell to a fourth defeat in five games. It was another disappointing result for Jogi Fosca's side who have now lost six of their last eight matches.

Dortmund will be delighted with their win and will hope it signals a turning point in their season. They currently sit in fifth place with 28 points from 17 games, but they must start to close the gap on the teams above them if they want to challenge for a European spot next season.

In contrast, Wolfsburg will need to find some form soon if they are to avoid being relegated this season. With just two wins from their last nine matches, they currently sit in 16th place and face a tough run-in against sides like Hertha Berlin and Schalke.

Overall, this is a big win for Borussia Dortmund and puts them back into contention for a top-four finish. However, they must now focus on building on this success and continuing their good form over the rest of the season.
